Regular Dental Check-ups
Regular dental check-ups are essential for healthy smiles. Allowing your child to get to know our Cambridge Pediatric Dental Associates’ team members is just as important as the check-up to foster positive dental relationships and create healthy smiles for a lifetime.
Advice about home care, oral habits, and diet are common and parents’ questions or concerns can be addressed. A “dental home” becomes established as a familiar, supportive base for regular pediatric dental care throughout childhood and adolescence. It is our goal at CPDA to maintain this important relationship all the way through the age of finishing college.
During a dental visit, the dentist will check your child’s mouth for tooth, gum and soft tissue health. Your child’s tooth alignment, growth and development will be monitored and discussed at each dental check-up. The dentist and dental hygienist will also demonstrate and review tooth brushing and flossing at each dental check-up in a way that is tailored to your child.
How often should a child see a dentist? Children’s needs differ, and your dentist will recommend a schedule of visits individualized for your child. How often visits are needed depends on your child’s dental home care, risk factors for cavities (dental caries), and for monitoring growth and development.
We encourage parents to stay with their children in the examination and treatment rooms and we are passionate about educating everyone in the family about the best ways to ensure optimal dental health. We are committed to providing your child with exceptional dental care at every stage of their development.
