Tooth-Colored Fillings

Primary (baby) teeth and permanent teeth may require restorative procedures commonly called fillings. Bacterial tooth decay (dental caries) or developmental defects may require treatment to restore teeth with a filling. Most fillings for young patients today are tooth colored resin-based composites which look natural and bond to tooth structure. Dr. George McEachern pioneered use of resin-based composites to restore primary posterior teeth in 1974. The advantages of conservation of tooth structure in cavity preparation and elimination of environmentally problematic metal components have made these modern materials the standard of care in tooth restoration of young patients. The pediatric dental team at CPDA had a long history of providing exceptional restorative care in a comforting environment.

Feel free to contact us at our Cambridge pediatric dental office if you have any questions about composite fillings, or if you’d like to schedule a consultation with one of our dentists.
