Dr. Shankar Rengasamy Venugopalan is a board certified Orthodontist and a Professor at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. At Tufts, he also holds two administrative positions, the Chair and the Program Director of Orthodontics. He was born and raised in India where he received his bachelor’s degree in dental surgery (BDS) from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University in Chennai. In 2010, he earned his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Texas A&M University Health Science Center. He then moved to Boston, and in 2014 he completed a certificate in Orthodontics and a DMSc at Harvard University. During this time, he was also a research scholar at the Forsyth Institute. He completed his DDS from the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) in 2017.
Dr. Rengasamy Venugopalan’s areas of expertise are clinical orthodontics and developmental genetics. He uses cutting-edge genomic technology to understand the genomics of developmental defects affecting the face and the teeth.
Dr. Rengasamy Venugopalan lives with his wife and in his spare time he enjoys travel photography, drawing and painting, reading non-fiction as well as trying different cuisines with his wife.
